What Makes This Recipe Unique?
- This recipe is very simple to make. You don’t need to spend a lot of time or effort in the kitchen, making it great for busy days when you want a tasty meal without any fuss.
- For this dish, you only need to use yogurt to create the sauce. There’s no need to chop onions or tomatoes or make a separate masala. This makes it quicker and easier to prepare!
- The whole dish takes just about 40 to 45 minutes to cook. This means you can have a delicious meal ready in less than an hour, which is perfect for lunch or dinner.

How To Make Beef Tikka Masala (Step-By-Step Pictures)
Step 1: Start by cutting your meat into small, uniform cubes. This ensures that all the pieces cook evenly. Place the meat into a pressure cooker and add in your seasonings: salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and a spoonful of ginger-garlic paste. Pour in about 1.5 cups of water to help create steam. Secure the lid on the pressure cooker and cook the meat for about 10-12 minutes.

Step 2: While the meat is cooking, take a bowl and mix together some yogurt with shan tandoori masala and national tikka masala. Make sure the spices are well combined with the yogurt to create a smooth blending of flavors.

Step 3: Move the cooked meat to a wok, then pour the yogurt mixture and some oil over it. Cook it with the lid on medium heat until the oil starts to separate from the mixture, which should take about 3-5 minutes, or up to 7 minutes at most.

Step 4: Add coal smoke in the end for a smoky flavor and top it off with lots of thinly sliced cilantro, green chilies, and ginger. Also, stir in some butter for extra yumminess.

Few Tips And Tricks For Perfect Beef Tikka Masala
- Cut off any excess fat from the beef. Too much fat can make the meat chewy, which isn’t pleasant to eat.
- Make sure to choose yogurt that is thick and creamy. Avoid sweet yogurt, as it can alter the flavor of your dish. Thick yogurt creates a good marinade that helps spices stick to the meat better.
- Shan brand is a popular choice for tikka and tandoori masala because it usually has a balanced flavor. If you find another brand, that’s perfectly fine! Just be careful to pick one that isn’t too salty or bitter. Some masalas contain a lot of garam masala, which can overpower the other flavors in your dish.
- If you use a pressure cooker, it will save you time while cooking as they work quickly. However, if you prefer to slow cook your beef, keep in mind that this method will take longer approximately 40 to 45 minutes just to cook the meat before you start simmering it with the sauce.

Use This Tikka Masala As A Filling!
This recipe is really flexible. You can serve it as a side dish or make it the main course. One of my favorite ways to enjoy Beef Tikka Masala is by putting it into wraps.
To get it ready for wraps, you need to simmer it a bit longer. This helps the gravy become just right, not too runny and not too dry. After that, you can add lots of fresh veggies. Pick a sauce to drizzle and just wrap it all up. You’ll have a yummy Beef Tikka Wrap that’s great for lunch or dinner!
Variation In Cooking Method
As you know, differences in culture often lead to differences in taste. Another method that you might have tried or seen starts with marinating the meat in yogurt along with some spices to add flavor. After that, you cook chopped onions and tomatoes together to make a sauce. Once the sauce is ready, you add the marinated meat and let everything simmer together.
This method takes a bit more time but results in a rich flavor as well. But let’s just stick to what saves us time and results in even better outcomes.
